WKU graduate student to attend National Outdoor Leadership School

WKU graduate student Benjamin Phaneuf of St. Paul, Minn., has received a $2,000 scholarship to attend the National Outdoor Leadership School in the Pacific Northwest during the summer of 2014.

Phaneuf, a graduate assistant in WKU’s Outdoor Recreation Adventure Center and a student in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport, is the first WKU student to receive an invitation and scholarship to attend the prestigious outdoor leadership school. NOLS is the leader in wilderness education with a core curriculum emphasizing leadership and teamwork, outdoor skills, environmental studies, and risk management.

The Outdoor Recreation Adventure Center is part of WKU’s Department of Intramural-Recreational Sports.
