WKU team advances to national quiz bowl tourney for first time

The WKU Academic Competition Club has qualified for the national quiz bowl tournament for the first time in school history.

The five-member WKU team participated in the NAQT (National Academic Quiz Tournaments) Region 5 Sectional Championship Tournament on Feb. 9 in Knoxville, Tenn. With a strong finish at the event, WKU earned an at-large bid to the NAQT Intercollegiate Championship Tournament on April 13 in Chicago.

WKU team members are Matthew Riggle, a freshman from Huntsville, Ala.; Nick Conder, a senior from Leitchfield; Cole Phelps, a junior from Leitchfield; Terence Donohue, a junior from Radcliff; and Joey Wallace, a sophomore from Bowling Green. The team advisor is Dr. Guy Jordan, assistant professor in WKU’s Art Department.
