WKYU-PBS will launch a series of broadcasts and awareness efforts in support of “American Graduate: Let’s Make It Happen,” a national public media initiative supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to help South Central Kentucky and other communities across America to address the high school dropout crisis.
WKYU-PBS, the Public Television Service of WKU, is one of more than 60 public media and television stations around the country that are working directly with their communities to address the dropout issue. Every year 1 million students drop out of high school nationwide.
The local public television station will premiere special editions of Outlook at 9:30 p.m. CT on Thursday (Dec. 13) and Dec. 20 titled “American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen.” Public Affairs Producer/Host Barbara Deeb will host a community discussion aimed at opening the dialogue on the proactive and successful stay-in-school programs available in our market, and showcase the efforts of those who make it their business to keep students in school.
Tune in to WKYU-PBS on Thursday (with encore presentations Dec. 16 at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.) and Dec. 20 (with encore presentations Dec. 23 at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.) for “American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen.”
