WKU students will participate in “Penny Wars” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 6) to benefit the United Way of Southern Kentucky. All student groups, large and small, are encouraged to decorate a “bank” and charge into battle to see who can raise the most money to help those in need during this holiday season.
Participating organizations will have “banks” set up across the WKU campus providing the opportunity for all WKU students to donate to the United Way. WKU students can put their pocket change to good use by donating it to United Way.
Group registration forms can be picked up from the Student Activities office in Cravens, room 13, and must be returned by 4:30 p.m. Monday (Dec. 3). Registration information can also be emailed to SAO@wku.edu. The winning group will receive a trophy and be recognized on the Penny Wars plaque updated annually with each year’s winner. Together, last year’s 10 participating organizations were able to raise $481.85 to benefit the United Way of Southern Kentucky.
