22 vie for 2012 Homecoming queen

Twenty-two students are vying for queen of WKU’s 2012 Homecoming court.

The queen will be crowned Oct. 20 during halftime of WKU’s football game with Louisiana-Monroe. Kickoff is 3 p.m. at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.

Candidates will participate in a host of Homecoming week activities, including a fall social on Sunday at Jackson’s Orchard, a volunteer experience Oct. 17 at the Kentucky Museum, the Chili Cheese Luncheon on Oct. 18 and the Homecoming Parade Oct. 19. (More: Read more about Homecoming events.)

Students will vote for their pick on Oct. 15.

Candidates are:

  • Madison Beach of Lebanon, the daughter of Troy Beach and Fay Beach. She is a biology and chemistry major and is sponsored by Phi Mu, Farmhouse, Phi Beta Sigma and Kappa Sigma.
  • Kelsey Beach of Bowling Green, the daughter of John and Vicki Beach. She is a special education major and is sponsored by Alpha Xi Delta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Sigma Nu and Sigma Alpha.
  • Bexlie Beam of Sabina, Ohio, the daughter of Bruce and Abbie Beam. She is an agricultural business and chemistry major and is sponsored by Campus Activities Board.
  • Keyanna Boka of Bowling Green, the daughter of Jafar and Ashley Boka. She is a biology and worksite health promotions major and is sponsored by the Student Government Association.
  • Alicia Brookshire of Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Derek Brookshire and Lolita Strickland. She is a public health and worksite health promotion major and is sponsored by Black Me of Western, Minority Women of Western and Alpha Kappa Psi.
  • Alyson Cooke of Crestwood, the daughter of David and Elizabeth Cooke. She is a social work and non-profit administration major and is sponsored by Baptist Campus Ministry.
  • Janeisha Ashante Davis of Nashville, the daughter of John A. Davis and Stephanie R. Cunningham. She is a psychology and child studies major and is sponsored by Minority Women at Western.
  • Tessa Duvall of Bowling Green, the daughter of Greg and Jan Duvall. She is a news editorial journalism, sociology and political science major and is sponsored by Omega Phi Alpha, Phi Gamma Delta and Iota Phi Theta.
  • Katie Honadle of Owensboro, the daughter of Tim and Peggy Honadle. She is a social media marketing and human resource management and event planning major and is sponsored by Sigma Kappa, Alpha Kappa Alpha and Sigma Chi.
  • Casey Hopson of Madisonville, the daughter of Marcus Hopson and Tammy Hickson. She is a public health major and is sponsored by Black Student Alliance and Alpha Phi Alpha.
  • Katie Knipp of Bowling Green, the daughter of Tim and Karen Knipp. She is an elementary education major and is sponsored by Phi Sigma Phi National Honor Fraternity.
  • Sarah Lowe of Bowling Green, the daughter of Nick and Anita Lowe. She is a biochemistry, dance and American Sign Language major and is sponsored by the WKU Spirit Masters.
  • Jessica Nichols of Potomac, Md., the daughter of George and Cynthia Nichols. She is a broadcasting and marketing major and is sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha.
  • Jessica Parks of Bowling Green, the daughter of David and Linda Parks. She is a psychology and biology major and is sponsored by the Honors Club and Honors Toppers.
  • Poorvie Patel of Bowling Green, the daughter of Paul and Jyoti Patel. She is a political science and citizenship and social responsibility major and is sponsored by Alpha Omicron Pi, Pi Kappa Alpha and Alpha Gamma Rho.
  • Mackenzie Perkins of Hopkinsville, the daughter of Dr. Don and Mitzi Perkins. She is a biology and psychology major and is sponsored by Alpha Gamma Delta, Lambda Chi Alpha and Kappa Alpha Psi.
  • Bryna Price of Louisville, the daughter of Melissa Lee. She is a social work major and is sponsored by the National Panhellenic Council.
  • Charlotte Rice of Elizabethtown, the daughter of John and Sara Rice. She is a middle grades mathematics major and is sponsored by the Student Alumni Association.
  • Drews Royse of Glasgow, the daughter of Sam and Jackie Royse. She is a communication disorders major and is sponsored by Chi Omega, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Delta Sigma Theta.
  • Sarah Sheldon of Goshen, the daughter of Dennis and Patricia Sheldon. She is a business administration and marketing and entrepreneurship major and is sponsored by the Resident Staff Association.
  • Erica Sturgill of Lexington, the daughter of Edward and Lee Ellen Sturgill. She is a marketing and sales major and is sponsored by Kappa Delta, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Phi Epsilon and Delta Tau Delta.
  • Amy Winkler of Murray, the daughter of Scott and Angela Winkler. She is an accounting major and is sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi, Omega Psi Phi and Alpha Tau Omega.
