Gov. Steve Beshear will attend a reception Monday (Sept. 24) as the Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky at WKU celebrates being named America’s Number One High School by Newsweek magazine.
“The celebration honors not only the work of our students, but the collaborative efforts of Western Kentucky University, government officials, business leaders and educators that have ensured the success of the Gatton Academy,” said Chad Phillips, Gatton Academy Assistant Director of Admissions and External Relations.
The celebration will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gatton Academy, located in Florence Schneider Hall on WKU’s campus. Gov. Beshear is scheduled to speak at 3:45 p.m. Students will provide tours of the Gatton Academy.
The community is welcome to join the Gatton Academy staff, students and alumni for the celebration. Parking will be available at the Adams Street Lot and Parking Structure 2 with additional parking available at the South Campus lot. A shuttle service will run from the South Campus Lot and Adams Street Lot to the Gatton Academy.
