WKU’s chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority is hosting the annual You Make Me Smile event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 19) outside of the Downing University Center. The sorority will be handing out Blow Pops with encouraging messages and quotes to remind young women on campus that confidence is the key to personal success. The chapter also will have a Backyard BBQ party open to all women on campus from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kappa Delta house at 1600 Chestnut St.
Kappa Delta is hosting this event to remind WKU women that September is International Women’s Friendship Month. This is not the first year the Confidence Coalition has been brought to campus. With much success in creating smiles and helping grow friendships between women on campus, the event has been brought back for a third year. However, there will be a new board women can sign to pledge their interest in staying confident in themselves and their abilities.
About the Confidence Coalition: Organized by Kappa Delta Sorority, the Confidence Coalition brings together all of the organizations, companies and individuals committed to promoting confidence among girls and women. By banding together, we are creating a movement to empower women and girls to be more confident and stand up against the issues that can impact our self-esteem -- media stereotypes, spousal and dating abuse, risky behaviors, relational aggression, bullying, hazing, gossiping -- virtually all of things that keep us from living the lives we imagine.
