WKU’s Student Government Association awarded scholarships to five students taking Study Away courses during summer 2012.
The $100 scholarships were awarded to Jessica Whitehouse, a graduate student from Central City; Jonathan Vander Molen, a sophomore from Franklin, Tenn.; Fiona Mowbray, a sophomore from Lexington; Kristina Gunterman, a senior from Bowling Green; and Karissa Grammer, a junior from Murphysboro, Ill.
Scholarship recipients will complete various courses in different locations, including Design, Merchandising & Textiles in Las Vegas, Art in Los Angeles, an Honors Colloquium in Chicago and Journalism & Geography in the American Southwest.
According to Jerry Barnaby, Study Away program director, “WKU offers a wide range of courses in different American settings that enable students to experience parts of our country as they increase their expertise in their chosen area of study.”
Barnaby added that that SGA support is a key measure of the importance students place on unique off-campus learning opportunities.
