“Introduction to Fly Fishing,” a free fly-fishing workshop offered through a partnership between WKU Study Away, WKU Continuing Education and Gander Mountain, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at Gander Mountain in Bowling Green.
All skill levels and ages are welcome. Pre-registration is available by calling (270) 745-1912.
Two more extensive workshops will be offered — a fly-casting workshop in February and a fly-tying workshop in April. These workshops will teach individuals how to create lures and will cover the basic equipment and skills necessary for any fly-fishing excursion.
Dr. Raymond Poff from the WKU Department of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport will provide all workshop instruction. Poff will also lead a Travel America trip in July through WKU Study Away. “Fly Fishing Montana” will provide a four-night or five-night expedition to Missoula, Mont., where Norman Maclean’s A River Runs Through It and Other Stories comes to life.
Those interested in the fly-fishing trip are encouraged to participate in one or more of the workshops. Registration fees and information for these additional workshops are available at http://www.wku.edu/ce/flyfishing.
