Danielle Adams, president of WKU’s Student Veterans’ Alliance chapter, is running for a position on the Student Veterans of America’s National Leadership Council.
Adams, a senior political science and sociology major from Interlaken, N.Y., is attending the SVA’s fourth annual national conference this weekend in Las Vegas.
Adams served in the U.S. Army for seven years and was stationed in Georgia, England, Iraq and Afghanistan. At the end of her active service she transitioned to the U.S. Army Reserves to continue serving community and country.
In 2009, she began pursuing her degree at WKU. She is a member of Sigma Kappa national sorority and was public relations chair for the past year.
While in the military she volunteered with the local Girl Scouts as the Special Events Coordinator and worked at a summer camp in Pennsylvania. At WKU, she has volunteered more than 100 community service hours supporting Alzheimer’s research, St. Jude hospital and local humanitarian efforts.
She has been a member of the WKU Student Veterans Alliance since 2010 and has served as the chapter’s vice president and president. She is working with WKU’s Military Student Services office on obtaining a veterans lounge on campus, the Vet-2-Vet Peer Mentorship Program and other initiatives.
