WKU’s Department of Theatre and Dance closes its 2011 Mainstage Season this weekend (Dec. 2-4) with WinterDance, A Holiday Extravaganza at Van Meter Hall.
The WKU Dance Company will dance to holiday favorites and light up the stage with dazzling choreography. WinterDance will feature tap, jazz and ballet, including portions of the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker Ballet. Show times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10. Call 1-800-5BIG-RED for advance tickets.
“Dancing in WinterDance is a very joyous experience. For me, it brings Christmas even closer,” said Tiffany Guy, a senior dance major. “It is such a unique opportunity to bring that Christmas spirit to an audience.”
“WinterDance has been a challenging and wonderful experience for our dancers. It has challenged them technically and artistically as performers,” said Clifton Keefer Brown, Dance Program Coordinator. “They are very excited now that they are ready to put what they have been working on in the studio on the stage.”
More: The department also will present Last Chance to Dance at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Van Meter Hall as students take the stage with their own exciting and innovative choreography. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
