Several educators from WKU attended the 19th Biennial World Conference on Gifted and Talented Children held in Prague, the Czech Republic, Aug. 8-12.
Participants in the conference from WKU included Julia Link Roberts, Mahurin Professor of Gifted Students; Tracy Inman, Associate Director of The Center for Gifted Studies; and Tracy Harkins, Executive Administrator of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children. Dr. Roberts is one of seven members of the Executive Committee of the World Council. She was re-elected as treasurer of the World Council. Also representing Kentucky was Lynette Baldwin, Executive Director of the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education. Baldwin, Dr. Roberts and Inman made presentations at the conference.
Educators and parents from 57 countries attended the conference. WCTGC is a worldwide nonprofit organization whose primary goal is to provide advocacy and support for our gifted children. The international headquarters of the WCTGC is located at WKU. The next world conference will be held in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2013.
