WKU announced that, with a year remaining, its New Century of Spirit Campaign stands at $185.3 million toward a $200 million goal. These totals were reflected in their year-end figures as of June 30, 2011.
“Topping the $185 million mark is an exciting milestone for WKU’s New Century of Spirit Campaign,” said Kathryn Costello, WKU’s Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. “We are very grateful to the Campaign Cabinet, chaired by Don Vitale and Rick Guillaume, and to the donors who continue to express their confidence in WKU by investing in its future. We anticipate another excellent year ahead as we continue our efforts to reach the $200 million goal. WKU is being transformed under the leadership of President Gary Ransdell and we have just begun to see the exciting potential of this great University.”
Other points of interest include for the 2010-2011 fiscal year include:
- $15.6 million in cash gifts were received from 17,000 donors.
- A record $6.7 million in annual fund gifts (gifts below $10,000) this past year—a 5 percent increase over last year.
- The President’s Circle, which is composed of donors who give $1,000 or more each year, had a slight increase to 2,340.
- Increased number of faculty/staff donors to 978, a 12 percent increase in donors from the previous year. Faculty and staff gave $708,000 in gifts.
- WKU’S combined endowment grew from $102.8 million to $116.3 million.
- The WKU Foundation provided $5.95 million in support of WKU programs.
- Alumni Relations staff conducted 234 events and programs that impacted 52,509 alumni and friends.
- WKU’s cost to raise $1 is 13 cents—well below the national average.
