Register now for String Explosion!

Students ages 4 through grade 12 interested in learning violin, viola, cello or double bass are invited to participate in the 2011 String Explosion! This four-day summer program teaches strings to students from beginner to advanced in an orchestra setting.

Students are divided into age groups based on skill level and instructed by WKU Music Department faculty. A morning Suzuki-method camp is now available for ages 4-7, and an afternoon camp has been expanded to include beginners and experienced students between 4th and12th grade.

A $10 instrument rental program is available through an arrangement with Royal Music. Contact Royal Music at (270) 842-9435 or visit their new store at 830 Fairview Ave. (next to Cambridge Market) for rental details.

String Explosion! is offered through a partnership between WKU Continuing Education and the Department of Music and takes place July 19-22 at the WKU Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center.

Registration fees are $75 and include music, instructor fees and a T-shirt. To register, visit the String Explosion! website. Registration is going on through July 1.
