U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie visited WKU on May 27. Congressman Guthrie was the keynote speaker for the Duke TIP Kentucky Recognition Ceremony at Diddle Arena (top photos) and presented Harriet Downing and the Downing family with a tribute to Dr. Dero Downing that appeared in the May 3 U.S. Congressional Record (bottom photo). In the tribute to Dr. Downing, who died April 4, Guthrie noted that WKU’s fourth president had left a lasting impression: “Dr. Downing always conducted himself as a man of honor, loyalty and spirit.
