Habitat chapter planning spring events

WKU’s Habitat for Humanity campus chapter is planning several events this spring.

Act! Speak! Build! Week: Advocacy and education events are planned on campus March 21-26 to raise awareness about Habitat for Humanity.

Citizen Architect film: The documentary Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio will be shown at 7 p.m. March 21 at the Institute for Citizenship and Social Responsibility at Garrett Conference Center, room 115. Mockbee’s “Rural Studio” program provides students with an experience that helps them to consider how they can use their skills to better their communities.

Wine-tasting fundraiser March 25: Wine, Women and Build will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. March 25 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1215 State St. Participants can sample wines, cheeses and light finger foods and bid on items in a silent auction. Singles tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door; couples tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door.

Third annual Habidash April 9: The 5K race will begin at 8 a.m. with the 10K at 9 a.m.; both at Kereiakes Park. Fees are $20 in advance or $25 on race day for the 5K; and $25 in advance or $30 on race day for the 10K.

Women Build Day: The event will be held April 30. Training sessions will be held at from 9 a.m. to noon April 2 and April 16 at Lowe’s in Bowling Green. Check out more information on 2011 Women Build.
