Three students in WKU’s School of Journalism and Broadcasting have been honored in the 2010 Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar Contest with awards in both the student portfolio division and the professional division.

A photo by WKU student Ty Cacek was featured on the Time magazine cover for the Oct. 11 issue. Additional photos by Cacek were included inside the issue as part of a story on militia groups.
Ty Cacek of Columbia, Mo., received first place portfolio in the Student Photographer of the Year category and second place for Feature Picture (professional division). A photo by Cacek about private militia forces was featured as the cover story in the Oct. 11 issue of Time magazine. Earlier this year he finished third in the Hearst Journalism Awards Program’s National Photojournalism Championship.
David Kasnic of Wenatchee, Wash., had the third place portfolio in the Student Photographer of the Year category. Kasnic recently was a runner-up in the student category of PhotoPhilanthropy’s 2010 Activist Awards.
Scott McIntyre of Louisville placed second in the Portrait/Personality category (professional division). McIntyre won the Hearst Journalism Awards Program’s 2010 National Photojournalism Championship.
