WKU recently honored 18 students from the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky for their academic achievements.
The annual recognition ceremony honored students who qualify for an academic scholarship to WKU. This year’s group has an average ACT composite score of 31 and grade-point average of 3.74 and included four Kentucky Governor’s Scholars and 11 National Merit Semifinalists.
The Gatton Academy, housed at WKU, offers a residential program for bright, highly motivated Kentucky high school students who have demonstrated interest in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Classes of 60 high school juniors and 60 seniors live on the WKU campus, taking courses from WKU faculty, earning college credit while completing high school.
