WKU’s Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter has several upcoming events scheduled.
Easter Egg Hunt for Spare Change: At 1 p.m. March 20, chapter members will be visiting neighborhoods to pass out flyers promoting this fundraiser. Then at 1 p.m. March 27, they’ll return to those neighborhoods to collect donations to support chapter activities. Neighborhoods include Hunting Creek, Pine Grove and Ashgate along with houses off Smallhouse Road, Cave Mill Road and Creason Drive.
Second annual Habidash: On April 10, the chapter will host a 5K and 10K walk/run at Bowling Green’s Preston Miller Park to raise funds and awareness for Habitat for Humanity activities. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. with the 5K at 8 a.m. and 10K at 9 a.m. Awards ceremony and prizes to the Catch-a-Construction-Worker winner at 10 a.m.
Act Speak Build Week: The weeklong event April 10-17 will raise awareness, advocate for substandard housing issues with political leaders, get people involved, work with the community to educate and to build with Habitat for Humanity.
Women Build: On May 1 and May 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., females will participate in building Habitat homes at 14th Avenue and Clay Street. WKU is the first campus chapter to lead a Women Build project. Training has been under way since February with sessions at Lowe’s in Bowling Green.
