Dan Opallo, director of marketing for the NBA, will discuss the use of social network marketing in the NBA’s marketing efforts at 2 p.m. Friday (Dec. 4) in WKU’s Grise Hall Auditorium.
U.S. sports leagues, corporate sponsors and media companies can cash in by using social media. Opallo will talk about how the NBA is building influence, ties with consumers and a community online through social networks.
Sports entertainment has successfully integrated social media into its internal and external marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives, all of which have enhanced NBA fan interactivity and the overall fan experience.
Opallo began his career as a marketing intern for WFAN Sport Radio 66. He went on to work for a sports network called Newsport which was bought out by Fox before working for ESPN prior to moving to the NBA in 1999.
