WKU forensic team wins at Ball State

WKU forensic team members traveled to Muncie, Ind., to attend the Ball State “Age of Aquarius” Tournament the weekend of Oct. 17-18.

The team advanced all members to a final round and received the sweepstakes championship, ahead of Northwestern University and Illinois State University. WKU also was awarded the “Benson and Hedges” Traveling Trophy for accumulated sweepstakes points each year at the tournament.

Results from the Ball State “Age of Aquarius” Tournament are as follows:

Mario Nguyen, a sophomore from Plano, Texas, tournament champion in impromptu speaking, tournament champion in dramatic interpretation and tournament champion in persuasive speaking.

Ganer Newman, a senior from Sherman Oaks, Calif., tournament champion in informative speaking, tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Ethan Millspaugh) and second in programmed oral interpretation.

Ethan Millspaugh, a junior from Coppell, Texas, tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Ganer Newman), second in duo interpretation (with Carrie Guggenmos), third in programmed oral interpretation and fourth in prose interpretation.

Jeffrey Boggess, a senior from Hayward, Calif., tournament champion in poetry interpretation and fourth in duo interpretation (with Taron Grizzell).

Desiree Guerrero, a junior from Fullerton, Calif., second in persuasive speaking, fourth in informative speaking and sixth in communication analysis.

Jamaka Young, a sophomore from Burnsville, Minn., second in dramatic interpretation, fifth in duo interpretation (with Jerome Davis) and sixth in poetry interpretation.

Elias Abdalla, a freshman from Portland, Texas, second in prose interpretation.

Carrie Guggenmos, a senior from Fullerton, Calif., second in informative speaking and second in duo interpretation (with Ethan Millspaugh).

Alexander Wozencraft, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., third in prose interpretation and sixth in duo interpretation (with Taron Grizzell).

Adam Swanson, a senior from Rosemount, Minn., third in poetry interpretation.

Adam Bouchareb, a freshman from Lakeville, Minn., third in communication analysis.

Wilian Iralzabal, a sophomore from Union City, Calif., fourth in poetry interpretation and fifth in dramatic interpretation.

Taron Grizzell, a sophomore from Union City, Calif., fourth in duo interpretation (with Jeff Boggess) and sixth in duo interpretation (with Alex Wozencraft).

Michael Courtney, a junior from Mayfield, fifth in persuasive speaking and sixth in dramatic interpretation.

Jerome Davis, a senior from Austell, Ga., fifth in duo interpretation (with Jamaka Young).
