Dr. Carl Kell, WKU communication professor, presented Build the Wall … Save the Castle – Southern Baptists and Racism as part of a lecture series at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Dr. Kell’s lecture on Sept. 1 was the first of the fall 2009 semester in the James A. Hutchins Lecture Series, the premier research activity at The Center for the Study of the American South at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Dr. Kell is the author of three books about the significant changes in the Southern Baptist Convention since 1980. They are: In the Name of the Father – The Rhetoric of the new Southern Baptist Convention; Exiled – Voices of the Southern Baptist Convention Holy War; and Against the Wind – The Moderate Voice in Baptist Life.
