WKU Greeks present annual awards

WKU’s Greek community hosted its annual awards convocation on April 26 at the Downing University Center Theater.

The following awards were presented:

Randall Capps Greek Man of the Year: Nathan Eaton, Phi Delta Theta , a senior from Fairdale, Ky.

Greek Woman of the Year: Diane DeRosa-Reynolds, Kappa Delta, a senior from Union, Ky.

Charley Pride Spirit Award: Jeff Moad, Kappa Alpha Order, a junior from Louisville, Ky; Rachel Reetzke, Chi Omega, a junior from Franklin, Ky.

Order of Omega Outstanding New Member of the Year: Chaz Vittitow, Phi Gamma Delta, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky.; DeeDee Donaldson, Alpha Delta Pi, a sophomore from Franklin, Ky.

Randy Bracey Outstanding Advisor Award: Marcia Brown, Alpha Delta Pi; Derek Olive, Delta Tau Delta.

M. Reed Morgan Fraternal Excellence Award: Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

Most Improved Chapter: Sigma Kappa, Sigma Nu.

New awards announced

Two new awards were announced at the Greek Week Convocation to honor Scott Taylor, Director of University Centers and Leadership Programs, and Howard Bailey, Vice President for Student Affairs, for their long term contributions to WKU and the fraternity and sorority community.

The Scott Taylor Chapter Achievement Award will go to any chapter that receives all eight Chapter Achievement Awards in one year, and the Howard Bailey Distinguished Service Award will be given to alumni that have contributed to the advancement of fraternity and sorority life through their regional and national involvement.

Greek Week 2009 results

A Greek Week blood drive produced 1,533 productive units of blood for the American Red Cross while the Greek Week Philanthropy Day raised $7,200 for the Fisher House Foundation and $3,500 for the Center for Courageous Kids.

In the Overall Greek Week results, Sigma Phi Epsilon placed first among fraternities while Kappa Delta was first among sororities.
