Imagewest to mark 5-year anniversary

Imagewest, one of the only full-service, revenue generating, student-run advertising and public relations agencies in the nation, will celebrate its five-year anniversary on March 25. The award-winning agency will be commemorating five years of success with an open house and will be awarding five scholarships.

The Five-Year Anniversary Open House will take place on from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 25 at Imagewest’s office in WKU’s Mass Media and Technology Hall, room 331.

Imagewest prides itself on being a different kind of agency with creative ideas and fresh talent. Each semester, students compete for the unique opportunity to intern at the agency. More than 150 interns have gained real-world experience by working on real-client projects in a collaborative team setting.

Imagewest has worked with more than 150 clients on a local, regional and national level. Last summer, Imagewest even traveled abroad to Malaysia to work with an international client.

“I am so proud of the agency’s growth and success over the past five years,” said Heather Garcia, Imagewest agency manager. “I believe our students, faculty, agency alumni, and clients all deserve a high-five.”

Imagewest will kick off the anniversary celebration by awarding five scholarships. Three scholarships will be given to WKU students pursing degrees in advertising, public relations and graphic design. Additionally, the first two babies born at The Medical Center on March 24 will receive a scholarship to WKU.

Potential clients and prospective students are invited to come enjoy refreshments, meet with the agency team, and view their work. There will also be free photos with Imagewest’s fun-loving mascot, the Ninja-Gnome.

“Imagewest continues to spark interest among other universities,” said Pam Johnson, the director of the School of Journalism and Broadcasting. “What they are doing is unprecedented and they continue to be a model of success amongst other universities and across the country.”

Team members for the spring 2009 semester include Kelly Allday of Shelbyville, Sarah Bly of Louisville, Tori Burton of Konigsberg, Germany, Justin Feldman of Bowling Green, Kimberly Goins of Owensboro, David Gray of Princeton, Drew Hawkins of Owensboro, Maggie Hinklin of Louisville, Jessica Patton of Georgetown, Jordan Perciful of Bowling Green, Sara Taylor of Louisville, Brooke Winebrenner of Louisville.
